Opus 5.5: 20% more session, 25% further, one reset in the drawer
A bigger glass, a cheaper pour, and a spare refill you are trusted to open yourself.
Summary: On 22 Sep 2026 Anthropic launched Claude Opus 5.5 and raised five-hour usage limits on Pro, Max, and Team. @ClaudeDevs said session limits increase 20% that day, Opus 5.5 goes 25% further inside limits because it is priced lower than Opus 5, and paid plans get a reset they can apply any time until 22 Oct.

What landed
On 22 Sep 2026, @claudeai introduced Claude Opus 5.5 and, in a follow-up, said five-hour usage limits were increasing on Pro, Max, and Team. Subscription users also got a rate limit reset they could save and use whenever they chose.
@ClaudeDevs (same afternoon) spelled out the Code side:
- 5-hour session limits increase 20% that day
- Opus 5.5 is priced lower, so it goes 25% further within limits
- Pro, Max, and Team users get a reset to use anytime
- Opus 5.5 is the default for paid plans and is priced lower than Opus 5, so 5-hour and weekly limits go 25% further
- The reset is in Settings, then Usage, and can be applied any time until 22 Oct
A 28 Sep @ClaudeDevs post reminded people the Tuesday reset was still unspent. That post did not grant a new reset.
Why it matters
This is a real capacity change, not a marketing blurb with no numbers. The banked reset is a new shape: the refill exists, and the user picks the day.
Satire margin
They handed you a reset and a deadline. Use it before 22 Oct or it becomes folklore.
