What landed

status.claude.com opened an incident on 16 Aug 2026 at 21:58 UTC: users authenticating to claude.ai, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. Four minutes later the note widened to degraded performance on those products plus platform.claude.com and the Claude API.

A fix was deployed at 22:22 UTC. Resolved at 22:34 UTC for claude.ai, platform.claude.com, the Claude API, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork.

No public root cause beyond the status copy. Window was short. Surfaces were not.

Why it matters

Auth is the front door. When it wobbles, Code sessions, Cowork tasks, and API clients all look like user error until the status page catches up.
